Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil University, Satara is the Cluster University established by Government of Maharashtra on 27th October, 2021 as per the recommendation of RUSA, MHRD, New Delhi 15th Meeting of The Project Approval Board 24th January 2019 and exercising of the powers conferred by sub-section (6) of section 3 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 (Mah. VI of 2017).

The Government of Maharashtra has issued Notification of Establishment of this Cluster University on 27th October, 2021 for setting up a “Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil University, Satara" as a cluster comprising of Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara (YCIS) as the lead college and Chhatrapati Shivaji College, Satara (CS), and Dhananjayrao Gadgil College of Commerce, Satara (DG) as comprising constituent colleges. Earlier the constituent colleges are run by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara and were affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara as lead college of this university and Chhatrapati Shivaji College, Satara and Dhananjayrao Gadgil College of Commerce, Satara as the constituent colleges.
